Defending champions Jamaica College (JC) and title favourites St George’s College (STGC) marched into the final of the Flow ISSA Manning Cup with easy victories over Denham Town and Jonathan Grant High at Sabina Park.

JC whipped Denham Town 4-2 with a double strike from National Under-17 player Donovan Dawkins in the third and 13th minutes.

Patrick Edwards reduced the deficit for Denham Town in the 22nd minute as the half ended 2-1 in favour of the champion.

Khori Edmond extended JC’s advantage making it 3-1 in the 49th minute but Denham Town refused to go away and Orlando Brown made it 2-3 in the 73rd before Jahvain Russell put the icing on the cake for JC in the 90th minute.

In the second encounter, the Alex Marshall show continued as the prolific striker grabbed a first half hattrick as St George’s College defeated Jonathan Grant 4-1 and booked their spot in the final. Marshall netted in the 12th, 25th and 35th minutes, taking his tally to 26 goals for the season in all competitions, while the steady midfield general, Dominic James, got his third goal of the season in the 87th minute, for an impressive win for the Light Blues.

Marlon Desouca scored a consolation goal for Jonathan Grant in the 77th minute.

It’s now unto next Saturday when JC will again put their title on the line against a rampaging St George’s team, heavily favoured to walk away with it.

It should be another epic and intriguing encounter worth going miles to see between the two most successful football schools.
