For the second straight game, Paul Bogle High’s imminent passage to the second round has been delayed after they suffered back-to-back losses in Zone L of the ISSA DaCosta Cup football competition.

After winning their first six games and on the verge of booking a second-round spot for the first time since the 2018 season, Paul Bogle High was beaten, first 3-1 by St Thomas Technical and on Thursday were tripped up 1-0 by Seaforth High.

The 2010 Ben Francis KO finalists will get another chance on Monday when they play Morant Bay where a win will see them book their places in the next round.

The win saw Seaforth High take over second place on 14 points, one more than Yallahs High on 14 and St Thomas Technical on 11, all still in the race for a spot in the next round.

Yallahs High drew 0-0 with Morant Bay High while St Thomas Technical won back-to-back games, hammering Robert Lightbourne High 12-1.

Mile Gully beat Christiana High 1-0 to move into second place on nine points in Zone G, one more than the losers who slipped to third place while Alphansus Davis were 4-1 winners over Alston High.

York Castle High are on the verge of qualifying for the second round after completing their lightning-interrupted Zone I game over Marcus Garvey Technical 4-0.

York Castle had led the game 1-0 on September 27th before the game was called off and when they continued on Thursday, they scored three more goals.

They are on 16 points and will officially be in the second round on Friday after second-placed Oracabessa High plays third-place Browns Town.

Whatever the result York Castle will advance and could top the zone if the game ends in a draw or Browns Town wins.
