St.Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS), made a successful defense of their title at last Sunday’s soccer tournament, put on by the Calabar High School Alumni Association (CHSAA) – South Florida chapter and the Sons of Rabalac – an affiliate organization.

The tournament which featured teams of seven players, two of whom must be 40 years and older, was staged at the Miramar Regional Park, Miramar.

STETHS topped their group (Ardenne, Excelsior, Titchfield), to set up a meeting with Jamaica College (Cornwall College, Herbert Morrison Technical, Calabar, Meadowbrook), which played unbeaten through the first round.

STETHS went on to defeat JC, 2-0 in the final to pocket the championship hardware and $1k winner’s purse.

With only nine schools participated, association president Michael Schloss told National Weekly that it was a very successful, incident free event.

“We were anticipating more teams however we are thankful for the support and we note that the competition was fierce through the day. Congrats to the winners.”

The annual tournament which was started five years ago, serve as a fundraiser, benefitting the school in Kingston, Jamaica.
