PETERSFIELD, Westmoreland — Petersfield High will hope to take over as leaders of a competitive Zone D of the ISSA/Gatorade/Digicel daCosta Cup when they meet last placed Little London in one of nine games to be played this afternoon.

Petersfield, who just missed out on a quarter-final place last year, are second in Zone D on six points from three games, two behind leaders Grange Hill, who have played four games and have completed their first-round schedule.

Mannings School, third place on four points and expected to contend for an Inter-Zone place, will also be in action when they play away to neighbours Godfrey Stewart, who have two points from three games.

Meanwhile, three schools which had their three-game win streak snapped on Saturday will return to action. Bog Walk High, Glenmuir High and Garvey Maceo all drew 0-0 last weekend, but are expected to return to winning ways.

Zone K joint leaders Bog Walk have won more games than they did in their previous two seasons and will face Tacky High who are further down the tables on six points in fourth place but are coming off a win against McGrath on Saturday.

Glenmuir’s 0-0 draw against Garvey Maceo on Saturday brought to an end 14 straight zone games in which they scored at least one goal, but should be able to find the back of the net against Foga Road who are coming off their first ever daCosta Cup win when they edged Porus High 1-0 on Saturday.

Garvey Maceo, who trail Glenmuir on goal difference, will face Bustamante High, winners of two games so far — their first in the competition.

In Zone A, the lead will be up for grabs as all four teams are on three points from two games each. Green Pond, who lead on goals scored, will host third-placed St James High who are coming off a 0-1 loss to Maldon High.

Second-placed Cornwall College will play away to Maldon High in a game that up to late last night was tentatively scheduled for Jarrett Park.

In the other game, St Mary Technical will seek to increase their lead in Zone J when they take on Islington High, who are on one point from four games and are yet to score a goal.
