The ISSA Schoolgirl Football season wrapped up dramatically as Excelsior High edged Holmwood Technical 1-0 in a hard-fought final, securing their ninth consecutive championship title. Despite their dominance in recent years, the defending champions were put to the test by a determined Holmwood side that showed impressive resilience and grit.

The breakthrough came in the 49th minute, when Destiny Powell coolly converted from the penalty spot, sealing the title for the Mountain View-based school.

In the third-place playoff, Garvey Maceo turned on the style to comfortably dispatch Merl Grove High 3-1. Goals from Sajane AndersonJully-Ann Howard, and Sara Needham ensured a podium finish, while Breanna Marr provided Merl Grove’s lone moment of glory with a consolation goal.

It was a spirited end to an exciting season, particularly for Merl Grove, who made their first-ever appearance in the semi-finals.
