A second defeat in two games sent Cross Keys High to the bottom of Group M in the ISSA/WATA DaCosta Cup Football Competition. They were thrashed 4-0 by Denbigh High at the Denbigh High Football Field on Wednesday, September 12, 2018.

Cross Keys was confident ahead of Wednesday’s fixture against Denbigh High School. However, it wasn’t the start they expected after a potential handball in the Denbigh High penalty box was waved off by the officials.

Denbigh High striker, Kiyle Hadden, put the boys in sky blue ahead in the 28th minute, and they held the 1-0 lead at the break.{loadmodule mod_custom,Google inside article ad code}

David Reid, Luton Herdsman, and Akeim Mignott scored in the 46th, 73rd and 87th minutes respectively, to make it 4-0, securing all three points for Denbigh High at the fulltime whistle.

Denbigh High currently sits third on three points in Group M, behind joint leaders Glenmuir High and Garvey Maceo High with six points each.

Coach Ishmael Wright of Cross Keys, after the game, had this to say about his team’s performance. “We started out well for the first half, they scored one, and we could have scored back, we got a penalty, and we never get it.”

He went on to say, “To be honest with you the officiating poor, poor, poor, you understand, after all, it wasn’t a bad game for my team.”

Coach Keveral Stewart of Denbigh High said he is happy with his team’s performance and is now preparing for the more difficult fixtures.

On Saturday, September 15, 2018, Denbigh High will play Winston Jones High, while Cross Keys will tackle Bellefield High. The top of the table clash will see Glenmuir High taking on Garvey Maceo High at the Juicy Beef complex in Clarendon.
